Hi Folks -

If you recall, I was the activity lady who started this. I work with several small assisted living homes and one of my ladies said one day that she figured the whole world had forgotten the ladies in their house even existed. So I wrote a message on this forum asking for post cards from every state in the union.

Thanks to you and many other folks, we just received a card from out final state! In fact, we received over 300 postcards - from nursing homes, adult day centers, home schools, churches, Chambers of Commerce, friends and family. We also received scenic books, poetry, letters, and photographs. I tried to send a postcard to all the Activity Connection folks, although I didn't have the money for stamps and cards to reply to everyone. So - if you need a card from Arizona and I didn't send you one, let me know. I've got 4 stamped postcards that could go out any time.

We are now trying to get a story about our quest in the local newspaper.

- Kathy  PS Another one of my homes picked up the Canada cards. They loved them. Thank you!!

Kathy,

Congrats on receiving your last post card!  I'm sure your residents are/were excited when they found out they have received over 300 cards!!!

Could you send us a post card from Arizona and a list that you may have??  I have a CNA who is doing the post card/pen pal projects.  She really likes the idea that you have started, now trying to get all 50 states and then some. Laughing  My email address is: beff.bom@meridiansenior.com. I hope she achieves her goal!!!

Thanks for your help Kathy and to those who reads this who have sent post cards to us, thank you!

If you would like to help our CNA and residents achieve this goal, please send a card our way!

just to let you all know how wonderful of an activity this is, and how important it can become! A Resident of mine had written to the Heritage of Wauneta Nebraska on November 8...to her surprise today she received a reply TODAY! The big smile on her face as hse came into the activity room as she held up the letter " I just got this today" so excited she could not read it. The news spread quickly through the facility...that four more people wanted to come ut next time for post card club! This was slow to start, but has gained popularity as we receive postcards and letters in the mail.  I currently have 47 addresses we have sent to 32 of them, Most of the time I do write them out as they feel their hand writing is bad. But love when I check the mail, asking me if I got any "postcards" thanks again for starting this, and please send me more addresses we would love to have 300 cards also!

Thanks,

Marla Ramaekers

Glad that our postcard made it! We got our first one from the Drake Center in Ohio, and everyone was so excited to look at the picture and read or hear the message! Thank you, Mel, for organizing this. ~Martha, The Caring Connection

Hi! Our facility is really interested in getting in on the list. I know the deadline has passed, but is there anyway to get on the list? Our residents would love it! Thanks. Our address is:

Thank you!
