I am a student and new tothe facility (starting a Master in OT in the fall) my undergraduate degree was in Commerce with a specialization in system analysis, so I had a lot of experience with computer databases. Currently at the facility where I work, all careplans etc were done by hand. In my spare time at work and home I have been constructing a fully electronic system to not only construct care plans but also, keeps track of all the activities each resident is involved in, when they refuse to go to a program and why. Plus it contains detailed "Rec Charting" to help us create better programs that cater to a variety of personalities and resident attitiudes. I made the program using Excel so it would be easier to teach to the staff, but it allows the Recreation Dept, to really understand residents and to get to know their wants and needs more clearly thanon paper. The program was obviously not easy to make (epeically with 90 residents) the program took abou 20+ hours to make not including the 2 hours per resident it takes to input all their information from the paper copies. It seems like a long time to spend on such a program but it will save a lot of time in the future and greatly benefit our residents and improve their standard of care!

Sounds like a lot of work.  I adress Problem/Strength, Goal and Aproaches.  It is all on a individual basis.
