Hi, I normally have the residents play balloon tennis, or broom hockey...does anyone know of any other active games?
Thanks, Tameka |

Not sure if you have the resources but do you have a Wii? My residents love it and most of the games are VERY interactive. |

We made our own race track for a car race and even purchased little hot wheels to do the racing and used dice. We drew spots that when landed on meant you crashed or had to make a pit stop and so forth. they really enjoyed this. We made another race track for horses and made big horse heads to use. Also, we have played but we only use one corn hole board. One of my girls saw in a magazine a frog game. she made this really nice size lilly pad without the flower (it kind of looked like 3 or 4 shamrocks linked together) and painted on circles with the number 5 in some of the circles, 10 in others, 20 and 25 in the center circle. then she made little frog bean bags and gave the bean bags to the residents to toss onto the frog pad. resident with the highest points won. We have also taken 7 large milkshake cups and painted the outside of the cups. Any color is fine. On the inside of the cups at the bottom, draw numbers on the bottom like #5 on 2 cups, #10 on 2 cups, #15 on 2 cups and #25 on the center cup. also put the same numbers on the cup at the inside top. Tape all the cups together and place in a small laundry basket. Give the resident 6 ping pong balls and let them toss into the basket. Resident with most ping pong balls in the cups win. Have Fun! The best game I have ever played with my patients is Indoor Boccia Ball. Its crazy how much they love it. You can order the balls from Flage House ( they have an online store) for $140. I know its a lot, but totally worth it. Its such an easy game everyone can participate. My lower functioning pt's love it because all they have to do is throw the ball. My higher functioning pt's love it because they can keep socore and get to play on teams. I it is well worth the money. We Play once a week, but could probably play every day!! |
