There are so many ideas on the internet...I get a lot from familyfun.com....We have made rainsticks, suncatchers, painted flower pots, etc...Pinterest has some good craft ideas, as well as, easy recipes too!

We recently make wreaths out of spoons and the residents loved them.  It was very cheap.  We made the whole thing out of spoons instead of using a mirror in the center.  We used cardboard circles for the background, plastic spoons, and arclyic paint.  Chances are you already have all the supplies.

Another idea that we recently did that went over very well was making book marks.  We went out in the courtyard and selected a variety of flowers.  We then pressed the flowers and let them dry for several weeks.  We then cut cardstock into various sizes for bookmarks.  I had a book of quotes that the residents picked their favorite quote.  We then wrote the quote on the book mark, glued the dried flower on it, laminated it, and then punched a hole and tied a ribbon/or yarn to the top to use as the tassle.  The residents loved them and many wanted to give them away as gifts. It was very cheap considering we already had all the supplies.

We make paper quilt squares using patterned scrapbook paper. The residents choose their block pattern and then select the paper (much like they used to do with fabric) they want to use. We assist them with cutting the paper as need and the squares are assembled on a solid colored 12 x 12 piece of card stock. They then add embelishments like stickers, buttons or ribbon if they choose to. These usually turn out very nice and are relatively inexpensive to make (you can often find the paper on sale at craft stores). One year, we assembled all the squares together on a bulletin board to make a very pretty display.
