Who does activities on your days off? That is who steps in for me if I have an additional day off.

I have a full time assistant that is trained in every aspect of the job; whether it's doing care plans, MDSs, CAAs or attending meetings such as RAR, Medicare, Stand-up; etc. She and I work Mon-Fri, with my 2 part-time assistants working 1)Sun-Wed. and 2)Wed-Sat w/ them alternating  on Wednesdays. Any call-offs are filled in by the part-timers.

How lucky for those that have assistants to step in....it is just me at my facility....so if I'm not there, nothing happens. And I know that staff are considered part of activities and could do something and there is plenty of materials around for them to draw from and we have gone over it. But all I hear when I return is how much I was missed!

I have a full time assistant who can step in if I'm not around, but only on days we're both scheduled to be in the facility. I'm lucky that I have a younger, alert Resident who wants to be very involved, who can pretty much step in and run the programs I've scheduled for the days I'm the only one in the building. We have our own "hiding place" for craft supplies and instructions, and oftentimes she can get more attendees at groups than I can!! This has worked quite well for us as I've missed a day or two r/t snow and ice, or had something come up that caused me to miss. And we find the aides are much more willing to help others get up, encourage them to go to groups, etc if they know this Resident is leading b/c they feel more duty bound to help her.

I am suposed to find volunteers to replace me for the calendar programming.  Sometimes I get lucky and it happens.  Some of them are good at checking attendance, and I get back with them later about just how much some participated.  If I actually do call in sick or bad weather (rare), I'm told "we'll take care of it."  Last week was the flu.  Yes, someone got bingo quarters, and they called bingo.  I heard a res. who has not even shown interest, was taken there.  She sat and looked at numbers and nodded and laughed.  No attempt to play, which was what she had been doing for about 2 months before I stopped "making sure" she was able to get to bingo.  No charting; couldn't find any proof that another activity scheduled had occurred.  I had a singer coming and called to make sure someone could announce and make sure people were there.  Didn't get any feedback from that and the singer actually has made 3 cds, so he's a good local talent!  Hated to miss him.  Weekend managers don't fill out attendance forms-had to bring that up again at meeting to remind them that I can't chart what I don't know and as far as I know, nobody attends any weekend activities-except one that a volunteer charts herself.  Isn't it odd that volunteers know more about what you do than your own managers/boss? hmmm...

Sadly, no one cares if activities get documented, it's not "their" problem.  You will have to worry about it when you return, which is so unfair.  I would leave a detailed explanation for whoever the administrator leaves in charge of activities when you call in sick, and call them on it with the administrator when you return if it is not done.  Make literally a list of requirements, 1. Gather ressidents for activity, make the note on who attends, etc.

It's just me and a 16-hour/week assistant. I work 5 days, and she works on the two that I'm off.  If I'm sick or need a vacation, our care managers are supposed to run programs... they never do.
