I am looking for some ideas for a Scavenger hunt I have planned for NNHW. I am blank and I want all the staff to participate. It would be a indoor activity and not leaving the building. Any ideas would help. Thanks |

You could use the idea of having to find people instead of objects. Examples could be a nurse wearing green scrubs, someone wearing a hairnet, a man with a moustache, etc. Then those people who are "found" have to sign their name beside that "item" on the list. Or it could be getting someone to do something. The item could be "someone who can juggle" - then they have to ask around and get someone to juggle for them - once they've proven they can do it, they have to sign their name. |

I do a Scavenger Hunt now and then for an activity with residents so why not during your festivities for NNHW? I make a pretty long list of items for them to find and make some of the items a little difficult to find such as a post mark from Indiana or a purple barrette. Also I specify items such as masking tape, I put on the list "a 6 inch piece of masking tape" and be prepared to measure what they bring back! I have put things on the list such as a hamburger and had a team bring back a picture of a hamburger out of a magazine! This counts because I also put in the rules that the kitchen is off limits (don't want to bother them during prep time!). The rules include that items have to be obtained from common areas or only from resident rooms who are on your team. Also residents have to be the ones to get the items meaning they have to ask staff for items not the staff or volunteer who is assisting them. So if you need a cotton ball or post-it-note, they have to ask for it from another staff member. Also no items can be taken from the activity room, so they can't go in and load up! I split the residents up into even teams along with a staff member or volunteer and make sure that any residents that are ambulatory are split evenly as well so that they can assist in pushing wheelchairs. Each team is given a list of items to find and a time to return to the activity room. Once everyone is back, I count the items they found and the winning team receives a prize. We celebrate with cake and punch. Have fun with this! It can get crazy with teams scrambling for the last few items during the last few minutes! It's a lot of fun! P.S. I have told the teams that they were "Hobo's" and they were scavenging for scraps of prize possessions. For the winning teams prize, I gave them "Bread and Water", it was a bottle of juice and a little bag of Gold Fish Crackers. I told them we got lucky because or CEO made a donation to the local Soup Kitchen and "We Hobo's" were going to eat in style! They got a laugh out of this. Then we gathered a box of unwanted stuffed animals and donated them to our local thrift shop that gives the stuffed animals out children for free. Treasa |

Hello, we have a scavenger hunt here about twice a year, but we have a magazine scavenger hunt. I give them a list at the beginning of the month and they get pictures from magazines and tape them onto sheets and we go thru them and award a prize to everyone that participates whether they complete it or not. Family members are always eager to get involved too. It's always been a great success. Good Luck |
