I had to share.  Yesterday, I planned a pancake relay for Mardi Gras called pancake day in England I'm an Activity Director at a convent for retired nuns (a whole new dimension in activity planning).  I bought skillets at the $ store.  The staff joined in and we had 3 contests.  Flipping , most times in a minute.  A toss we stood in a circle ,if it hit the ground you were out. Stacking using a spatula silver dollar pancakes were stacked to see who could get the highest.  The Sisters did this one.  They enjoyed watching the staff with the others.  I made tacky trophies out of syrup bottles (for stepping up to the skillet) and teased our group about sitting in the front row and taking a risk of being hit by shrapnel. (we used real pancakes made the day before).  Last night there was news footage of Prince Wm. and Kate flipping pancakes in Ireland they all came and told me about it today.  The staff are even asking me to do it again  next year so they can defend their titles.

What a great idea!  I have never heard of Pancake flipping and for you to do such a thing and then to find out that Prince William and Miss Kate were doing just the same is wonderful!  Also what an interesting job you must have; including many challenges!  Kudos to you!

I wanted to add that I found an activity on a webpage called "Cow Chip Throwing Contest".  They actually use real dried cowchips!  They have the residents wear gloves and throw the cowchips as far as they can, measuring and giving trophies to the winners.  I plan on using this activity for my men's group but using chocolate chip cookies.

Just another idea!

Treasa too funny, I don't think my Sisters would throw cowchips but I know the men in the facility I used to work would get a kick out of that.  Good luck!  Who knows I may be able to come up with something like it.  I once saw where they made a grid and numbered the squares people guessed or bet on a number where they thought the chip would land.  They were tossed and winners announced.  This might be helpful for people who don't have the strength to go for distance.  Hey you could stack too.  This one is just too funny I LOVE IT.
