It's that time of year again! We are starting to think about Sr. Prom in May and were wondering if anyone has a fun, easy theme they have used. Please share your ideas if you don't mind! |

We are in the same boat trying to come up with a theme to go with I have asked residents and they are thinking but no one can come up with one that they would like, they tell me you decide, we like what you come up with lol , but that doesnt help me with an idea from them. We have done a star theme one year and used the them Under the stars, and we did a patriotic theme one year and used the Star Spangled Affair theme and used the red white and blue with stars as accents. We also did a Snow flake ball in January one year and we did that in hughes of blue and white and soft muted gray with TONS of Snowflakes it was fun too
I would love to see what other themes people come up with too or have done. this is a major event for us, our residents and staff look forward to the prom more than Christmas party and events so it is a BIG Event

We've had a "Senior Prom" for about 20 years. Each year is a different theme, so the decorations vary, but we always crown a king and queen, have a professional photographer come and take pictures of families, as well as a professional videographer who gives us the dvd's to show later, as well as send to families out of state. We invite families, and our board members. We dress up like waiters and serve hot fancy appetizers, and sparkling grape juice. We hire a 4 piece band that plays for 2 hours, and it's always at night during nursing home week. Last year, we had "moonlight in Manhattan" complete with a wall size mural of NYC at night behind the band. We had black wrought iron candle holders on the tables with battery operated candles over mirrors. We had black and white table clothes on the tables, and stars hanging from the ceiling. The courtyard attached was "central park" and it was lit up with white christmas lights. The kitchen serving window had an awning that read "Tavern on the green" with outside patio furniture. Our attached assisted dining room was "Ellis Island" complete with the statue of liberty. We even served "manhattans". It's always a big hit. The year before was "an evening in Paris" with a 16 ft eiffel tower in the courtyard that we borrowed from the local high school after their prom. This year The theme is a world cruise and our prom will be "An evening in Tuscany" We will making pizza's for supper, and having lasagna for lunch. We'll show "under the tuscan sun" while we're decorating. The tables will have gold and green table cloths, with wine bottles holding a large sunflower, a wine glass with a battery operated candle, loaves of bread and grapes. The courtyard will be decorated. The kitchen will look like a "Ristorante". We even have a flower cart, and a bicycle with flowers in the basket. A local nursery is bringing in potted plants and trees for us to borrow for the day. They always enjoy this very special evening. |
